The starting point of the project was a look at a set of baskets.
How they act together and how they each feel individually.
I tried to give each of them its own unique character, and at the same time create a combined, harmonious shape.
Just like human relationships.
The inspiration for the silhouette came from observing African and Indian women carrying their baskets on their heads - the most primeval and authentic way of basket carrying.
The reference to this is also found at the bottom of the first basket and in the "stack" of baskets that these strong, hard-working women carry on their heads.
